On The Needles
In WindyCityKnits land, it is baby knitting time again. No, no, no, not for me, no more babies around here. But I'm knitting baby berets for my shop and for a cousin's baby shower gift. I just love the look of a beret on a baby and this cotton yarn I'm using is so cushy and perfect.

It's Been Awhile...
I can't believe it's been 2 months since I posted on here. Life has been busy:D
My WindyCityKnits Etsy shop has been doing well and I've added a few new designs. I'm taking some time now to knit for myself and I'm also designing some fall/winter knits as well. It's kind of hard to design warm wool knits in the summer but I'm trying to stay ahead of the game, ha:) I'm thinking of soft, warm, wool cabled mittens and hats and some convertible glove/mittens.
Really enjoying spending time with my girls and the sunshine. I've also been trying to utilize my crafting skills around my home by sewing some napkins from my bottomless bin of scrap fabric and knitting reusable dish and wash cloths. The 7 year old is having fun helping with that too. I've found a very easy pattern for the napkins here: http://www.curbly.com/diy-maven/posts/3728-how-to-sew-a-simple-napkin
Here are a couple of new knits from my shop:

Organic Cotton Good Things
New organic cotton washcloths and gift set. These cloths are made from 100% organic cotton and are super soft and cushy. I like to use mine with my face wash because they feel wonderful on the skin and they are very gentle. These cloths actually get softer after washing instead of getting scratchy like cheaper cotton wash cloths. Buy some for yourself or they make a wonderful gift for a new mom to wash baby gently with chemical free cloths. Click here to go to my Etsy shop.
For a limited time, I will include a FREE bar of handmade natural oatmeal and honey soap with purchase of any of my new washcloths. They are available in Cream, Caramel and Green Tea.

For the Love of Organic Cotton
My newest passion is Organic Cotton. I have been doing some research on the subject and found many interesting facts. The cultivation of cotton dates back to prehistoric times. It has been spun, woven and dyed to cloth people since ancient times. Although cotton has been commercially produced using traditional farming methods for centuries, the use of pesticides and chemicals just like in commercially grown food crops took over. However, the return of organic farming has has allowed consumers a choice whether to wear clothing or use linens in our homes that are organic. Organic cotton is grown without pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, chemical fertilizers or any other chemicals.
The Benefits of Organic Cotton:
-No chemicals to irritate sensitive skin making it perfect for adults and children
-Absorbs moisture from our bodies in a more efficient way than polyester products
-Helps to support organic farming communities in the US and abroad
-Last but not least, helps keep the Earth beautiful and free of nasty chemical pollutants
Check WindyCityKnits soon for some Organic Cotton hand knits.

Completed Twist Cardigan
I finished my Twist Cardigan. I love it!! I used Cascade 220 Heathers in a deep purple colorway. I'm wearing it right now and it is so comfortable. This pattern was super easy to follow and very well written. I would definitely knit it again, maybe trying the hooded version.
Yogurt Success!
The yogurt turned out really good! It's creamy and tangy but not as tangy as regular plain yogurt. I added a little honey and blueberries and it was delicious. I got about 10 cups worth.
